From the supplier: A new civil right, that to be free of violent crimes motivated by gender, appears in the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (VAWA). This civil right may also be used to remedy rape, child sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and crimes against gays. There are numerous reasons why federal remedies may be preferable to those offered under state law. Points covered include how an attorney making a VAWA claim can deal with constitutional challenges, choice of jurisdiction and of defendant, statute of limitations questions, and the protecting of the client's privacy.
