As I look back through the years of my life, I wonder, what am I and how did I become the person that I am? I’m a survivor. A good friend called me a resilient woman. Is that true?

Definition of Resilience- the positive capacity to cope with stress and catastrophe. Resilient defined – springing back, returning to original form after being bent, recovering from adversity….

Yes that is true…I am very resilient. During my journey, starting at 6 months old, I’ve been a poster child for stress, catastrophe and painful adversity. You ever wonder about the that person who has constantly experienced bad luck in their lives? Matter of fact, the term bad luck maybe soft. How about turmoil? I am that person. Yet, I’ve bounced back, I overcame each and every event. What does this mean? What does this say about me? Well, what started off as a homework assignment from my life coach, friend, and brother, will answer that question.

I sent out a text message to a few individuals who have known me for at least 5yrs and/or people who knew what I experienced, those who truly know Cee Cee. I asked one question. Can you describe me in one word? Here are the words that were sent to ME, the woman that has overcome abuse her entire life. The survivor.

Resilience, Blessed, Courageous, Indispensable, Astonishing, Loony, Fun, Intellectual, Sensitive, Dependable, Strong, Crazy , Ambitious, Interesting, Impactful, Intricate, Astonishing, Fruitful.

It worked, because I learned something. Describing me in one word, said a lot. In the eyes of others, those words defined who I am, they described me. A woman that overcame Child Abuse, Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Rape, and Domestic Violence. This is my life story!
